The City of Naperville seeks a highly motivated, energetic Planner who thrives in fast-paced work environments to join their Planning Services Team. The Community Planner is responsible for a wide range of duties which include coordination of development application and site plan reviews, assistance with special and long-range planning projects, preparation of text amendments to existing Zoning Regulations, and support to boards and commissions.
As part of the Planning Services Team, Community Planners have opportunities to upgrade their role into a Senior Community Planner as skills and experience are acquired.
Additional responsibilities include representing the division at meetings with developers and other City employees (wherein you will contribute technical planning and zoning comments on development proposals); responding to inquiries from developers, realtors, and other organizations; and leading special studies on topics such as land use compatibility, population trends, neighborhood planning & development, and transportation issues. Support to boards and commissions includes the Planning and Zoning Commission, City Council, Historic Preservation Commission, and the Human Right and Fair Housing Commission.

To get this job, you typically need a Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with electrical, hydraulics, programming, and mechanical PLCs is required.
We pay $2.00 per hour shift differential for all time worked on 3rd shift. *Rate of pay depends on one’s experience, education, and skills.

All Technicians are sent to College of DuPage for classes. Technicians are scheduled for a series of six mechanical and six electrical classes. Classes are during work hours, so Technicians are paid for their time in class. We adjust their hours to spend half their shift on the floor and the balance in the class. Jel Sert pays for this training which includes classroom and lab work. All Technicians are involved in this training despite their experience level.
