American Academy of Pediatrics seeks a Committees and Sections Manager to manage the planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs and projects for assigned American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) medical subspecialty sections, including overseeing policy development and administration; development of professional resources, education and member affinity programs, liaison appointments/relationships; and implementation of grants and subcontract agreements. Support other AAP initiatives and child health priorities that align with or draw from assigned constituent disciplines. Pursue opportunities to support section initiatives to advance/augment subspecialty care and optimal delivery of child health services. Some responsibilities are the following:

  • Provide primary staffing for assigned sections, including agenda development, meeting planning, preparation and dissemination of minutes, budgets, and administrative follow up. Utilize virtual technology to support section activities as appropriate.
  • Facilitate, implement, and manage program initiatives and value-add projects (prioritized by council and section leadership).
  • Facilitate the development and management of AAP policy as it pertains to assigned sections. For these disciplines, serve as the internal AAP contact in matters associated with policy interpretation and/or related program/project management. Respond to inquiries from AAP members, allied health professionals, government officials, and other professionals as necessary.
  • Coordinate activities of assigned sections with stakeholders, including other AAP entities, medical societies, and external partner organizations. Where appropriate, develop and implement Memoranda of Understanding delineating program goals and roles.
  • Manage editing, proofing, reference verification of policy manuscripts, manuals, educational products, promotional materials, and other documents. Review content of in-progress publications for consistency with existing AAP policy. Secure/negotiate copyright releases and/or reprint permissions for tables and other materials as needed.
  • Collectively work with AAP federal advocacy staff on legislative and/or regulatory matters pertinent to AAP policy, including reviewing Federal Register notices related to proposed rulemaking and/or exploring the significance of AAP representation at federally sponsored hearings and meetings.
  • Manage all essential business processes including policy development, elections, bylaws, core/non-core budgets, strategic planning and peer review Develop internal memoranda, policy documents, and program proposals in accordance with established protocol and formats (SBAR, policy templates, CME program proposals).
