The Community Health Resources team is looking for a paid INTERN to support the DuPage County Tobacco Control and Prevention Program and other community initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to collect and organize data collected during Smoke-Free IL Act compliance inspections. This is a part-time position, with 22.5 hours per week, or 3 days per week from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm.  This position will be located at the Central Public Health Center in Wheaton and will include field work in DuPage County. The internship is for up to 16 weeks. The pay rate for this position is $15.00 per hour.
Responsibilities:

  • Works independently while conducting compliance checks of non-food service businesses and places of employment.
  • Provides support for the analysis of data collected during compliance checks.
  • Assists in developing social media content.
  • Provides support for training and event planning.
  • Identifies trends, patterns and target populations; assists in developing outcome measurements; collaborates with program staff to prepare information for external distribution.
  • Provides reports and related information to advisory boards and coalitions.
  • Participates in emergency response activities as assigned.
  • Maintains required training, licensure and/or certification.
  • Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to patient privacy laws.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity and understanding of other ethnic groups and cultures.
  • Available to respond to clients and/or customers, either in person or over the phone, during assigned business hours and/or clinic times.
  • May represent the agency to various groups, community, and professional organizations.
  • May assist with Health Education/Promotion.
