The American Academy seeks an Accreditation Services Director to join their team. This position will oversee the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) regulatory/certification requirements, and direct policies and procedures related to all accreditation, AAP requirements, and quality standards impacting the AAP continuing medical education/continuing professional development (CME/CPD) program. Direct the joint providership submission process. Manage the annual AAP Education Award process and staff the Committee on Continuing Medical Education (COCME) AAP Education Award Subcommittee. Develop and implement activities that enhance the AAP CME program. Oversee the AAP credit application process and the annual CME/CPD Award. Pay range for this position is $118,915.00 – $125,521.50. Some responsibilities are the following:

  • Direct AAP policies and procedures related to the ACCME Essential Areas and Their Elements, Updated Criteria, Standards for Commercial Support, and ACCME policies, the American Medical Association (AMA) Physician’s Recognition Award program, American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) 2 program, and other regulatory requirements impacting the AAP CME/CPD program. Provide updates, consultation, and education on CME/MOC 2 and its requirements to staff and external constituents delivering AAP CME activities to ensure full compliance as part of the ongoing ACCME -study process and meet AAP CME quality standards.
  • Direct appropriate staff to ensure all AAP CME activity files include the necessary documentation for compliance and conduct periodic file audits. Interface with the ACCME, AMA, ABP, National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) and other relevant agencies on accreditation issues and/or other organizations on credit issues. Explore new relationships with external accrediting bodies as appropriate.
  • Oversee the preparation of the ACCME self-study, develop the performance in practice activity files, and direct all other tasks associated with the ACCME reaccreditation process. Oversee the AAP accreditation database, the submission of information to ACCME Program and Activity Reporting System (PARS) and all other documents related to maintaining accreditation.
  • Oversee the direct and joint providership system for both internal activities and activities developed by AAP districts and chapters to ensure full compliance with ACCME, AMA PRA, MOC 2, and other regulatory requirements, as well as meet AAP CME quality standards. Direct the joint/direct providership abstract submission process to include annual review and update of the instructions and application, oversee the appropriate dissemination and compilation of application materials, and orient joint/direct provider on the overall process to ensure compliance. Act as the point person for SMApply platform as it relates to contracts, payments, training, etc.
  • Supervise and provide strategic oversight for the CME/CPD Conflict of Interest (COI) disclosure program and collaborate with appropriate AAP staff to achieve a streamlined and member-centered disclosure collection process. Act as the point person between accreditation staff and senior leadership for the COI platform.
  • Provide strategic direction, leadership, and management for all AAP educational content development and delivery across the AAP in conjunction with the department leadership team to meet a diverse set of healthcare professionals’ needs. Assist in directing the coordination and administration of the program development pipeline, from idea generation to end of the education activity life cycle, aligning proper oversight by appropriate staff, to ensure consistent, effective, and efficient development and delivery. Ensure all activities operate within AAP policies and procedures and comply with all AAP CME quality standards. Oversee the collection and maintenance of records on the activity and participants for statistical purposes. Regularly monitor project activities and conduct ongoing/annual evaluation according to the project evaluation framework.
