The Census Bureau is looking for Field Representatives to collect data and information from the public. Census Bureau field representatives and field supervisors make up the majority of these positions, serving an important role in completing the mission of the agency. They connect with members of their local communities and collect data that represents the voice of the nation. Census Bureau data, collected from various surveys and programs, including the Special Census program, are the foundation of all official statistics used to make decisions about the programs, services, and infrastructure that we rely upon. Salary ranges from $17.27 to $28.08 per hour.

• Conducts interviews primarily in person (door to door) and when requested may conduct phone interviews to collect survey or census data as required within an assigned geographic area.
• Communicates with respondents, supervisors, and other persons as appropriate.
• Understands survey materials in order to explain the purpose of surveys, ask questions as worded on the questionnaire or survey instrument, and enters accurate and complete information into a laptop computer or onto survey forms.
• Maintains personal payroll records that reflect hours worked, miles driven, and reimbursements for travel and communications claimed.
• Completes and attends training as necessary in-person or online.
