World Relief seeks a Job Readiness English Language Instructor. This role has the primary responsibility of providing English language instruction and Job Readiness training for newly arrived refugees who are actively seeking employment. This position aims to move students toward stability and healthy integration through practical, survival English language acquisition, as well as the development of skills necessary to find and retain a job in the US workforce. Role & Responsibilities:
  • Instruction
    • Teach a multi-level, intensive Job Readiness English language class for 16 hours per week for newly arrived refugees and asylees, utilizing an integrated curriculum, including content on obtaining and retaining a job as well as skills for developing practical, survival English language skills.
    • Design effective, creative lesson plans that draw upon the World Relief curriculum, competency checklists, and include student-centered, culturally-sensitive activities.
  • Assessment, Record Keeping, and Coordination
    • Conduct student assessments and document student performance and attendance.
    • Complete monthly reports to ensure program compliance.
    • Coordinate with Resettlement and Employment regarding student attendance and progress.
  • Professional Development
    • Grow as a professional through conference attendance, graduate courses, etc.
    • Contribute to the WR Education Team through participation in department meetings, shared professional development, and opportunities for creative collaboration.
