The CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Setup Operator is responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines to manufacture precision parts and components. The role involves preparing machine tools, loading raw materials, and ensuring the equipment operates efficiently and accurately. The CNC Setup Operator ensures that parts are produced to specifications and meets quality standards within the established time frames. Below lists some responsibilities of the position. Key Responsibilities:

  • Machine Setup and Calibration:
    • Prepare CNC machines (such as lathes, mills, or routers) for production by setting up tooling, fixtures, and workpieces.
    • Install and align cutting tools, tool holders, and other necessary equipment to ensure proper machine function.
    • Set machine parameters such as speed, feed rate, and depth of cut according to engineering drawings, specifications, and work orders.
  • Production Operation:
    • Operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as cutting, drilling, milling, grinding, or turning metal and other materials.
    • Monitor machine operations, adjust settings, and troubleshoot to maintain production quality.
    • Perform test runs to ensure accuracy and make necessary adjustments.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Inspect parts during and after production using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to ensure conformance to specifications.
    • Perform routine quality checks and document measurements, noting any deviations or defects.
    • Communicate with Quality Control personnel to resolve any non-conformance issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Machine Maintenance:
    • Perform routine maintenance on CNC equipment, including cleaning and lubricating machines to ensure smooth operation.
    • Report any machine malfunctions or potential hazards to the supervisor and assist with troubleshooting and repairs when necessary.
