The Bloomingdale Park District seeks a Parks Maintenance worker to join their team. Under the direction of the Director of Parks and Planning, the Parks and Facility Maintenance I staff member is responsible for the daily maintenance, repair, and improvements of the parks and facilities of the Bloomingdale Park District. All Parks Department employees are expected to be efficient and courteous, perform duties following all safety requirements and exercise sound judgment in the best interest of the Park District and its patrons. Hourly wage starts at $17-$20/hour DOQ, in addition to a Bloomingdale Park District

Some responsibilities are the following.

• Perform the job in compliance with District safety policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate and support the Park District’s mission statement, vision, and core values.
• Must be able to safely perform duties in the presence of the general population and our park patrons in public areas.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work harmoniously with fellow employees to maintain positive and effective working relationships.
• Capacity to maintain self-control and composure in difficult situations.
• Must be flexible with schedule changes, extra hours, and emergency calls.
• Ability to operate all District vehicles and equipment, including hand and power tools.
• Perform turf maintenance to include aerating, mowing, trimming, seeding, and fertilizing.
• Perform landscape maintenance to include watering, mulching, weeding, planting of flowers/shrubs and trimming of trees and shrubs.
• Maintain athletic fields including aerating, dragging, and striping.
• Remove all refuse and trash from parks and playgrounds.
• Remove snow and ice from walks, drives, and paths.
• Ability to perform routine maintenance and repairs on facility systems, including basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting tasks.
• Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
