Forest Preserve District of DuPage County seeks a Seasonal Veterinary Preprofessional for the summer of 2026. As the Seasonal Veterinary Preprofessional, you will work under the guidance of the Conservation Center’s veterinary team by taking care of sick, orphaned, and injured wildlife. This position offers job experience and training in veterinary care perfect for those starting a career in veterinary care.
Schedule averages 40 hours per week, over 12 weeks. This does include holidays as well as 1 weekend day per week.
This position starts in May of 2026 and works up to 4 months.
$16 per hour.
What You’ll Do:

• Provide routine and emergency care to a diverse range of wildlife.
• Assist in medical, diagnostic, and surgical procedures.
• Collaborate on euthanasia and postmortem examinations when required.
• Maintain accurate medical and procedural records.
• Safely handle and restrain wildlife.
• Perform daily husbandry duties, including cleaning, feeding, and monitoring patient enclosures.
• Follow all safety and biosecurity policies to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
• Collaborate with staff and volunteers in a positive, team-oriented setting.
