The Downer Grove Public Library is looking for a Technology Services Assistant. The Technology Services Assistant is primarily responsible for helping patrons troubleshoot technology issues, creating and teaching technology and maker-related classes, and assisting patrons in one-on-one Book-an-Expert sessions. This role requires very strong customer service skills and the ability to multitask with frequent interruptions.
They are looking for candidates who will:
• Assist patrons with technology issues and questions, both in-person and over the phone, while staffing the Computer Help Desk
• Create and teach classes for patrons of all ages relating to technology and makerspace equipment
• Assist with the 3D-print request queue
• Help set up and take down technology equipment for classes, programs, and meetings
• Handle the occasional low-level internal technology help ticket
• Prioritize and multitask in a detailed environment
• Support equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in the workplace
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
• Experience with internet usage, social media, software programs, operating systems, and electronic devices
• Experience in training and/or instruction preferred
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite
• Experience using ILS software preferred
This is a year-round, part-time position with an hourly rate of $18.76 – $21.11, depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits include vacation, personal, and sick leave.
The typical schedule for the Technology Services Assistant will be Mondays and Fridays, 5–9 p.m.; every other Saturday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.; and one Sunday shift, 1-5 p.m., every four weeks.
