FormCo Metal Products seeks a Tool Maker to join their team. Under general supervision from the Plant Manager, the Tool Room/Tool Maker will be responsible to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot machine tooling, to meet production requirements. Key Responsibilities & Duties
1. Plan, layout, construct, alter and repair a wide variety of tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, machine parts and gages for machine operators
and equipment.
2. Responsible for skilled fitting, timing and adjusting tools and instruments, to produce a functional part.
3. Check and gage work using tool and die makers’ hand tools, and other precision measuring instruments.
4. Perform related hand and bench operations such as inspection, layout, fitting, polishing, lapping and scraping.
5. Check condition of machines and other equipment; Make any necessary repairs.
6. Work with machine operator on problem solving.
7. Work with engineering and/or maintenance to resolve specific machine, tooling, setup problems that may arise.
8. Ensure production schedule may be obtained, through proper maintenance of tooling. Academic & Trades Qualifications
Must have a working knowledge of blueprints, lathes (horizontal and turret), surface grinders, and milling machines, and be functional on a machine – set-up and operation. Work Experience & Skills
1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); A minimum of two years related experience and/or training, or
equivalent combination thereof.
2. Journeyman/Apprenticeship experience a plus.
3. 2+ years experience as a Tool & Die Maker/Machinist.

To get this job, you typically need a Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with electrical, hydraulics, programming, and mechanical PLCs is required.
We pay $2.00 per hour shift differential for all time worked on 3rd shift. *Rate of pay depends on one’s experience, education, and skills.

All Technicians are sent to College of DuPage for classes. Technicians are scheduled for a series of six mechanical and six electrical classes. Classes are during work hours, so Technicians are paid for their time in class. We adjust their hours to spend half their shift on the floor and the balance in the class. Jel Sert pays for this training which includes classroom and lab work. All Technicians are involved in this training despite their experience level.
