The Production Supervisor leads a team of operators in the finishing departments (finish machining, shipping, etc.). Additionally, the Production Supervisor is the key point of contact and schedule coordinator with outside service providers (heat treat, FPI, welding, coatings, etc.). The Production Supervisor will flex between two non-union aerospace facilities in Bloomingdale and Glendale Heights, IL respectively. The position has critical areas of responsibility for delivering on-time production and throughput to meet increasing customer demand. The Production Supervisor will be successful in their role by planning, managing the finishing departments, and addressing machine maintenance/quality needs in a self-directed, customer and employee focused manner. The Production Supervisor will serve as a backup for the Operations Manager for vacation coverage and other business needs. This role partners with cross-functional departments to deliver key performance metrics across safety, quality, delivery, and cost while communicating operations status, resolving issues, and identifying and implementing improvements.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead the activities of the finishing departments to ensure productivity, quality, on-time delivery, and profitability goals are met.
  • Support the operation in physically managing the customer’s parts, outside service vendors and all relevant information that is collected and processed during the production cycle and in preparation for shipment.
  • Motivate, coach, mentor and lead employees to deliver high performance. Address opportunities for improvement, which may involve difficult performance conversations.
  • Communicate regularly with leadership any problems or issues occurring in production, maintenance, people or quality.
  • Actively evaluate, make recommendations, and implement improvements to the operation to maximize profitability and throughput.
  • Train employees on processes, policies and procedures to build highly skilled operators.
  • Exemplify and lead by example to embody safety programs and processes to create a safety culture. Take ownership of safety for the operation and drive safety improvements.
  • Drive high quality through all operational processes by determining root causes, eliminating process issues, and being accountable to results.
  • Identify and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive execution of work orders and demonstrate a reduction in unplanned downtime of the equipment. Address and implement corrective actions to improve results based on trends.
  • Manage staff, including but not limited to, engaging direct reports, mentoring, coaching. Working with the Chief Operating Officer, Operations Manager, and Human Resources to manage any discipline issue and/or employee relations.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and weekends as needed.
