Through the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), we may be be able to pay for you to attend local training programs to get new skills or obtain a professional certification to be more marketable in your job search.
There are possibilities for training or certification in many different occupations, and in many different industries in DuPage County, including healthcare, information technology, manufacturing, office & clerical, trucking & logistics, accounting, and more.
If you are found to be eligible, an appointment will be set up with a career counselor to determine your scholarship funding.
Job seekers who live in DuPage County, or who were laid off from a company in DuPage County, may apply for a WIOA grant at workNet DuPage. Those living outside of DuPage County may apply, but DuPage residents are given priority. If you are receiving unemployment benefits, you can continue to receive them while you are taking classes.

Before your Assessment, please research and/or visit several schools that provide the training you need. By doing this research before your appointment, we will be able to assess your status and plans more quickly and prevent any delay in starting training. Consider the following questions:
How much does the program cost? (the WIOA program can fund up to $10,000 of training.)
Is this training necessary for me to become employed? (If it is, please be prepared to tell your career counselor why.)
Will I be able to find a job related to this program after I finish training?
Is this type of job in-demand?

We pay $2.00 per hour shift differential for all time worked on 3rd shift. *Rate of pay depends on one’s experience, education, and skills.

All Technicians are sent to College of DuPage for classes. Technicians are scheduled for a series of six mechanical and six electrical classes. Classes are during work hours, so Technicians are paid for their time in class. We adjust their hours to spend half their shift on the floor and the balance in the class. Jel Sert pays for this training which includes classroom and lab work. All Technicians are involved in this training despite their experience level.
