The Illinois Tollway is seeking a Structural Carpenter to join their team. The Structural Carpenter constructs, erects, installs and repairs structures and fixtures of wood, patricians drop ceilings and other items required for the operation and maintenance of the Tollway system and its facilities. Performs all carpentry-related maintenance duties on all Toll facility buildings including Plazas, Maintenance Sites, and the Central Administration Building. Essential Job Functions
Operates power driven woodworking machinery, equipment and hand tools as required.
Designs and or makes from general instructions or sketches of various items required for operation and maintenance of the Tollway system and its facilities.
Makes repairs to furniture.
Assures the safe working conditions of equipment and the observance of safety rules and regulations.
May occasionally direct other employees who are assisting on various jobs.
Performs maintenance work as assigned.
Maintains records and prepares and submits related reports, as required.
Performs all carpentry-related maintenance work under emergency conditions when required or as ordered.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Fabricates office furniture as required working off of blueprints.
Lock and door hardware repair.
Maintains tollbooths, crash walls, and curbing at the Oases.
Tollbooth enclosures: replacements and repairs including all glass.

<li class="vbox centered">To get this job, you typically need a <strong>Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with electrical, hydraulics, programming, and mechanical PLCs is required.</strong></li>
<li class="vbox centered">We pay <strong>$2.00 per hour shift differential for all time worked on 3rd shift.</strong> *Rate of pay depends on one’s experience, education, and skills.</li>

All Technicians are sent to College of DuPage for classes. Technicians are scheduled for a series of six mechanical and six electrical classes. Classes are during work hours, so Technicians are paid for their time in class. We adjust their hours to spend half their shift on the floor and the balance in the class. Jel Sert pays for this training which includes classroom and lab work. All Technicians are involved in this training despite their experience level.
