Quality Control Analyst

What do Quality Control Analysts do?

Quality control analysts ensure a company's goods and the materials used to make them meet production standards. They spend time testing and evaluating a business's materials and completed product samples, rejecting materials and products that don't meet government or company standards.

Training & Educational Opportunities

Education and training requirements vary with the responsibilities of the quality control worker. For inspectors or analysts who perform pass/fail tests of products, a high school diploma and some in-house training are generally sufficient. Workers usually receive on-the-job training that typically lasts for as little as 1 month or up to 1 year. Training for new inspectors may cover the use of special meters, gauges, computers, and other instruments; blueprint reading; safety; and reporting requirements. There are some short-term post-secondary training programs available, and some may lead to certifications such as the Inspection & Quality Control certification from NIMS.
