Andrew Fox
General Counsel
Illinois Department of Labor Andrew Fox serves as the General Counsel for the Illinois Department of Labor. He manages and leads legal work for an agency that enforces over 25 labor and employment laws.
By way of background, Andy went to Loyola University for undergrade then IIT Chicago Kent College of Law for law school. He was a missionary for the Jesuits in Tacna, Peru and upon return he worked as a bilingual teacher at Cooper in Pilsen. He went to law school at night while teaching. His legal practice started at the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, then he worked in a variety of positions for the state of Illinois, at the Illinois Prisoner Review Board, DFPR, DHS, DES. Prior to his current position he was the first Director of Labor Standards for the City of Chicago. He is an adjunct professor of criminal justice at Roosevelt University in the Criminal Justice Leadership program.
Over the last twelve months he has served on the HLAI Pipeline Committee where in tandem with the JD Mentors and Young Lawyers Committee they have developed a growing community of future leaders in the legal profession. They launched a highly successful health and wellness series that includes running/walking then mindful yoga sessions.
He has lived in Pilsen for more than 20 years. Born to a Mexican mother, he strives to incorporate his rich Hispanic heritage in his daily affairs.

To get this job, you typically need a Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with electrical, hydraulics, programming, and mechanical PLCs is required.
We pay $2.00 per hour shift differential for all time worked on 3rd shift. *Rate of pay depends on one’s experience, education, and skills.
Our best technicians have: Strong mechanical and electrical skills Additionally, someone that takes pride in their work, is honest, creative in their ideas, and works as a professional in a team environment.
All Technicians are sent to College of DuPage for classes. Technicians are scheduled for a series of six mechanical and six electrical classes. Classes are during work hours, so Technicians are paid for their time in class. We adjust their hours to spend half their shift on the floor and the balance in the class. Jel Sert pays for this training which includes classroom and lab work. All Technicians are involved in this training despite their experience level.
