The Village of Woodridge has an opening for a Civil Engineer in the Public Works Department which reports to the Director of Public Works. The Department has 31 full time equivalent employees. There are currently two Civil Engineer positions in the department supplemented by consulting engineering assistance. This position hiring is seeking to augment the in-house staffing related to an increase of capital improvement projects and more complex development projects. The position performs a wide variety of work related to public improvement projects generally including engineering design and construction management, implementation of the annual road improvement program, and new development review and inspection.
This is a full-time exempt level position with an excellent benefit package which includes health and life insurance, IMRF pension, vacation, paid sick, holiday and personal time and tuition reimbursement. The annual salary range is $81,182 – $117,561. The starting salary will be dependent on qualifications.
Position Responsibilities:
- Planning, surveying, design and management of Village capital improvement projects which may include the water system, sanitary system, storm system, and road improvements.
- Plan review and construction inspection of commercial and residential development sites.
- Prepare cost estimates, plans, specifications, bids and contract documents.
- Oversee and perform construction management documentation, testing and inspection of village projects.
- Budget and grant application preparation and administration for engineering projects.
- Assists in the development of long-term planning and implementation of the annual road improvement program.
- Respond to a variety of inquiries from the public relating to storm water, traffic, Village infrastructure, construction work and other issues relating to municipal engineering.
- Work with GIS and AUTOCAD to update utility infrastructure data and mapping.
