The Village is accepting applications for a part-time Community Service Officer in the Police Department. This position assists patrol officers with non-active calls for service by preparing reports, assisting motorists, collecting information, and managing general service calls. Additional responsibilities include ensuring compliance with municipal parking ordinances through accurate enforcement of the Village code and ordinances. A successful candidate will be able to conduct investigations into complaints and minor crimes, be proficient with technical software, and have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Shift Details: Afternoon shift, Tuesday through Friday, 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm, with occasional Saturday work for special events.
Salary and Benefits: The full hourly range is $27.12 – $37.29, with a maximum starting salary of $32.55, dependent on qualifications. Although part time, this position qualifies for participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF).
Major Duties and Functions:

• Responds to walk-in requests for service and to on scene calls for service, including but not limited to theft, motor accidents, and criminal damage.
• Prepares reports on theft, motor accidents, criminal damages, and other service calls.
• Performs routine patrols.
• Patrols assigned areas for enforcement of the Village’s municipal parking code.
• Assists motorists with disabled cars and lockouts.
• Educates parents and childcare givers on child car seats and performs car seat installations.
• Assists with School Crossing Guard duties.
• Assists with a variety of administrative duties in the Police Department.
