The Forest Preserve of DuPage County is hiring for a Restaurant Server at the Greenway Tap Restaurant at the Preserve at Oak Meadows Golf Course. This position provides guests with a fun and engaging experience in the clubhouse restaurant by demonstrating strong food knowledge, solid organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong teamwork.
Variable schedule during the golf season based on business needs, including weekends and possibly holidays. Position may work varying shifts, with shifts from 10:30 AM until 4 PM, and shifts from 3:30 PM until 10 PM. Pay: $9.00 per hour, plus tips. Benefits: Restaurant discounts, pro-shop discounts, and golf privileges.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve guests in a positive and friendly manner, ensuring they feel appreciated and welcome throughout their visit.
- Guide guests through all stages of their clubhouse experience, providing attentive and courteous service.
- Continuously learn and describe Food and Beverage features on a daily basis, offering recommendations and information to guests.
- Maintain and coordinate service at the table with the assistance of fellow team members, ensuring seamless and efficient service.
- Work alongside service assistants to clear and re-set tables, as well as assist in the delivery of food and beverages in a collaborative team environment.
- Demonstrate proper knowledge and service methods in delivering food and beverage offerings to meet and exceed guest expectations.
- Operate with a sense of urgency at all times, proactively anticipating guests’ needs and addressing them promptly.
- Efficiently operate the point of sale system, tabulating and charging customers for orders, accepting payments, and accurately completing required reporting according to established procedures and policies.
- Maintain open communication with supervisors, management, and fellow service staff, sharing information about customer needs, comments, or incidents.
- Assist with training of new staff.
- Adhere to all procedures and policies established by the District, DuPage Golf, and the Health Department to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Perform all required opening and closing tasks to prepare and maintain the restaurant for service.
- Foster a working environment that promotes safe work habits; Become familiar with and observe all applicable safety rules, policies, and work procedures; Follow all safety rules that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of the District’s safety and risk management program; Keep work area clean, orderly, and free of hazards; Immediately report all unsafe conditions and incidents.
