Welding Automation Engineer

Futaba is looking for a talented Welding Automation Engineer to improve existing welding equipment and oversee the design, development, and the implementation of new welding processes in accordance with company standards and customer quality expectations. This position will be involved from concept to capacity study, plant layout study, workflow analysis, trial runs, production launch, and continuous production improvement. Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 – 3 years of welding automation and/or design experience. A background in metal fabricating, robotics, PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), and/or automotive parts manufacturing is desirable. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic Engineering or a related engineering field is preferred. Working knowledge of 2-D and 3-D software and MS Windows is required. The ability to read and interpret blueprints and 2-D and 3-D drawings is essential. They are looking for a solutions-oriented engineer with solid design, problem solving, and follow-through skills. Must be highly responsive to customers’ needs and deliverables. Travel one week per month (around 30%) to our manufacturing sites along with the opportunity to meet our global team.
Competitive benefits plan that includes medical, dental, vision, life, disability insurance, 401(k) plan, and more are offered. Salary range is $80,000 – $90,000 per year depending upon knowledge, skills, and abilities. Work schedule is generally Monday – Friday from 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM or 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. To get this job, you typically need a Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with electrical, hydraulics, programming, and mechanical PLCs is required.
We pay $2.00 per hour shift differential for all time worked on 3rd shift. *Rate of pay depends on one’s experience, education, and skills.

All Technicians are sent to College of DuPage for classes. Technicians are scheduled for a series of six mechanical and six electrical classes. Classes are during work hours, so Technicians are paid for their time in class. We adjust their hours to spend half their shift on the floor and the balance in the class. Jel Sert pays for this training which includes classroom and lab work. All Technicians are involved in this training despite their experience level.
