The Glen Ellyn Park District has a Boathouse Rental Coordinator position open. Under the direction and supervision of the Superintendent of Recreation Services, the Lake Ellyn Boathouse Rental Coordinator serves as the main contact for rental operations for their scenic boathouse situated on the shore of Lake Ellyn. Primary responsibility is to facilitate the rental process for events such as weddings, parties, corporate gatherings, and community events. Duties include but not limited to marketing, tours and booking, contract and payment management, and vendor and equipment coordination. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal and customer service skills to ensure the seamless execution of all rental contracts and activities. This includes frequent interaction with the public and park district staff to perform the required duties and responsibilities. In addition to coordinator responsibilities, this position may assist with front desk operations and/or other administrative needs of the Recreation Services department. Occasional remote work possible following orientation period. This is an at-will position. Pay is $18.00 – $20.00 an hour. Hours: Generally, Monday – Friday between the hours of 9:00am – 3:00 pm, with some flexibility and occasional nights/weekends for special events. Approximately 29 hours per week. - Previous administrative experience with effective organizational skills, accuracy, and the ability to follow through on detailed work is essential.
- Previous event planning and coordination for hospitality or other related industries is preferred.
- Effective communication and customer service skills with ability to interact well with staff and the public both verbally and in writing, with tact and diplomacy.
- Professional and approachable with the capacity to build lasting relationships and work collaboratively with staff, vendors, community organizations, and the public.
- Strong computer and keyboard skills required with proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the aptitude to learn and use other systems/applications.
- Recreation registration software experience is preferred, with ActiveNet experience highly desired.
- Effective problem-solving skills with the capacity to act calmly and effectively under pressure or in difficult situations.
- Must be a self-starter who is dependable, flexible, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Prior cash handling experience with solid general math skills is required.
- High School graduate or equivalent is required with related college courses preferred or comparable training and/or experience.
