Lanise came to worket DuPage after a pandemic-related layoff. She was lacking certifications and obtained a WIOA grant through the Lisle-based career center to earn her Construction Management certification. Her career counselor Mark Dennison provided support every step of the way.
“The resources and training that I received through workNet DuPage allowed me to obtain certifications and career development support that improved my confidence and helped me advance into a more qualified candidate pool,” says Lanise. “The services resulted in my obtaining a job with a 46% pay increase from my previous salary.”

In addition to funding to earn marketable certifications, Lanise credits workNet DuPage’s job search workshops, Building Blocks for a Successful Job Search, as key to her success. Spearheaded by Jennifer Weggeman, the two-day seminar is chock full of information. The sessions cover everything you need to secure job offers - from what to do before, during, and after the interview.
Lanise's improved resume writing and interviewing chops, as well as the updated certifications helped her land a full-time job as a Construction Management Administrator. Working for a Semiconductor Manufacturer, she plays a key role as a member of the project management office (PMO) team.
