World Relief Chicagoland is hiring a Case Worker for its Asylum Project. This position includes case management responsibilities, such as assistance in accessing public benefits, housing, medical service provision, employment, career development, and educational referrals while participant’s asylum applications are being processed. The coordinator will also be responsible for maintaining and establishing new relationships with immigrant legal services providers and other Chicago community service providers that can support asylum applicants. Additionally, the Coordinator will collaborate with church partners in conjunction with their Church and Volunteer Engagement team as part of the HOME Team, an initiative to connect asylum seeking families with volunteer support teams. Responsibilities:
Assist asylum seeking individuals and families in accessing and understanding public benefits such as Medicaid, All Kids, VTTC and WIC.
Orient participants to the healthcare system including making appointments, arranging transportation, and communicating important information to physicians.
Assist families or individuals in need of housing to find safe shelter according to their needs and capacities.
Conduct intake assessments for new families, develop service plans, and document each participant’s progress.
Establish new and maintain existing relationships with immigrant legal services and community organizations within the Chicagoland area that can be utilized as referral sources to the benefit of program participants.
Work collaboratively with Church and Volunteer Engagement to connect asylum seeking families with volunteer support teams and provide appropriate follow up support to both families and volunteers.
Assist asylum seekers in finding employment and career opportunities once they obtain their Employment Authorization Document.
Research and keep abreast of updates to immigration policies and procedures that may be relevant to program participants.
Provide occasional transportation assistance to appointments and make planned home visits as is necessary.
Work closely with other staff, interns, and volunteers to provide holistic services to each family/individual.
Attend department and office-wide meetings and regular 1:1 meetings with supervisor.
Coordinate the team of interns dedicated to support asylum seekers.

We pay $2.00 per hour shift differential for all time worked on 3rd shift. *Rate of pay depends on one’s experience, education, and skills.

All Technicians are sent to College of DuPage for classes. Technicians are scheduled for a series of six mechanical and six electrical classes. Classes are during work hours, so Technicians are paid for their time in class. We adjust their hours to spend half their shift on the floor and the balance in the class. Jel Sert pays for this training which includes classroom and lab work. All Technicians are involved in this training despite their experience level.
