The DuPage Water Commission is looking for a Project Engineer to join their team. Under the direction of the Manager of Engineering & CIP, the Project Engineer is responsible for the capital construction programs including management and maintenance of the pipeline corrosion protection system, pipeline, pumps, motors, electrical, and building construction. Additionally, the Project Engineer supervises, directs, and evaluates the work of active engineering agreements and/or Task Orders with consultants. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, review, and supervise the creation of design drawings and documents of proposed facilities, bid solicitation processes, and bid reports and recommendations.
- Coordinate project scheduling and budgeting for the CIP.
- Coordinate, review, and/or supervise as appropriate any contract work, contract change requests, development of drawings of record, contract dispute resolution between contractors, consultants, and the Commission, as well as any contract pay requests. - Coordinate the involvement of other Commission managers and supervisors in the construction process.
- With the assistance of Legal Counsel and other consultants, position will be responsible for developing contracts and technical specifications for department projects.
- Supervise the activities of consultants and contractors working for the Commission and provide reports and recommendations to the Manager of Engineering & CIP.
- Coordinate work and activities with other departments, contractors, customers, and service personnel.
- Assist in the preparation of items for monthly board meetings and provide reports as requested.
- Prepare weekly status reports and attend monthly board meetings, as required.
- Propose items for inclusion in annual budget and Five-Year CIP.
- Ensure timely communication and response to internal and external requests throughout the workday.

The Illinois Tollway is seeking a Traffic Operations Technician to join their team. The Traffic Operations Technician monitors and coordinates real-time traffic conditions on the Illinois Tollway and on adjacent expressways and roadways to assist in mitigating the impacts of congestion.
The Traffic Operations Technician communicates directly with the Authority’s Dispatch Operation, District 15 State Police, the Gary-Chicago-Milwaukee (GCM) Corridor, the media, and the motoring public via the TIMS software, Dynamic Message Signs (DMS), Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) Systems, and two-way communications systems.
Work also involves gathering information on daily and permanent lane closures, posting lane closure messages accordingly, along with monitoring construction areas for incidents and/or traffic flow problems. Freedom to act is limited to well defined assignments in accordance with established standards and techniques of the operation of the TIMS Operation Center.
Assists with snow operations. The incumbent reports directly to the Traffic Operations Center Manager. The incumbent monitors information relating to real-time traffic conditions on the Illinois Tollway and adjacent expressways and roadway impacting the Illinois Tollway. This information is obtained by monitoring the TIMS real-time system map, Automated Incident Detection applications, Traffic.com web data, CAD communications, CCTV camera images, State Police communications, and interaction with the media.
Duties:
- Operates various communication systems to keep in contact with all agencies involved in traffic situations and incidents along the Illinois Tollway.
- Gathers and disseminates traffic conditions along the Illinois Tollway to the general public by the operation of DMS, and communication with the media.
- Maintains and modifies, as necessary, a log inventory system of all incidents along the Illinois Tollway including how well particular incidents are handled.
- Undertakes all necessary procedures and operations in the daily opening and/or closing of the TIMS Operations Center.
- Performs diagnostics on all equipment located in the TIMS Operations Center and equipment located in the field, and coordinates with contracted maintenance operator in the repair of all equipment.
